Tom set the tray down onto the nightstand, taking a seat beside Davesprite and the eggs on the bed. He leaned down, quickly pressing a kiss to the sprite’s temple before passing a plate to him. “Here you go. I have some jello cooling in the fridge as well, we can have it for dessert later.” Junior idly flapped his wings, peeping and chirping his hellos to Davesprite excitedly. “Is it alright if I set him down for just a second? He’s been crying for you all day, the poor boy.”
Davesprite chirped softly, returning with a quick kiss to the cheek. He gladly took the plate from Tom and took a quick bite before saying anything. “Hmmm, sounds good to me, what kind’a jello?” Davesprite smiled a little as Junior tweeted up a storm of hellos to him. “Yeah, sure. I feel kind’a bad that I can’t hang with him too much, so.” It was true, he felt a little bad about it, but there was nothing he could really do with Junior (besides nap with him).
“Mandarin orange jello, with the slices inside as well. I even used a mold, so it’s going to look professional. Junior can have some too, actually. I saw him eyeing the bowl earlier.” Tom pressed a kiss to the crown of Junior’s head, setting him down on the bed. “How are the eggs? They seem much bigger that Junior’s was, now that I think about it. Why do you think that is?” It was puzzling. They were even different colors, one garnet and the other a pale blue.
Davesprite snorted, giving him another peck on the cheek. “Well, ain’t you fancy babe? That’s damn neat if I say so myself.” Davesprite continued eating, reaching down in between to lightly pet Junior’s head, earning some loud happy chirps. He even crawled as close as he could and laid down near him so he wouldn’t have to reach too far to pet him. “Well, they’re doing pretty good from how it seems. I ain’t got no idea why they’re bigger though.”
"Maybe because they’ve got mixed genes? Junior was all you, but these could have been me. I’m still not sure if we were even compatible, but that just may be the case here." Tom took a bite of his own dinner, observing his happy little family. God, he was just so happy with all of this, it was almost dream-like. “I’m very curious about the egg shells though. Have any other of the eggs you’ve lain been different colors?”
